I MADE AN AGREEMENT WITH MY EYES - Job 31v1

PORNO-GRAPHY -  Do we have a Board of Censorship in Kenya that keeps an eye on what we see, read, and hear, as we pick up a book, video, or audio tape to be entertained with?    What kind of Films are we being exposed to?    How much freedom do we have to watch unhealthy, unguarded and morally decadent material on the International Net? Do YOU have such a Board in your Country, and if so is anyone checking on what its standards are - just in case they have become too libertine, and careless?   Do you in fact care what you are allowed to feed on through the Media as a whole?    Are you aware how easily humanity is being dehumanised by the Media into eventually accepting standards of life and belief that erode everything our human experience and faith in God has, over the millennia, built up into what was once referred to with some respect and awe as Civilization?

It is a sad fact that most Civilizations such as the Greek and Roman ended in moral and ethical collapse.     It has been said that this is t also true of the British and American civilizations.     Usually this is manifest in lifestyles and philosophies that descend to the uttermost abomination and degradation in their human behaviour.

I have been reading a book by one Michael Potter, Principal of Tyndale Christian School in Southern Australia.     The book is entitled 'We Have a VOICE!', and it deals with our world Society and our attitude to it.    An excellent little book that needs to be read.    The 15th chapter is entitled SEX, and on page 102 Potter says -
'THINGS have changed!  Today there are millions of online images of all types of sexual activity that can be easily accessed by our teenagers in the privacy of their bedrooms or on their smart phones.   These include not just naked images of 'conventional' sex acts, but also images of group sex, fisting, rimming, oral sex, bondage, sadomasochistic sex, and the list goes on.    OUR young people are seeing these things on a regular basis.   It is estimated, on average, that 70% of boys have seen online pornography by the age of 12, and close to 100% by the age of 15.       Over 50% of girls of 12 and under have seen online pornography, and 97% by the age of 16.'

Of course, it is not merely 'smart phones' and 'computers' that are a main artery of obscene material.    It is on Cable Television as well, and even in adult films and literature.     A good number of Magazines are close to being pornographic and can be obtained on our bookstalls.
Mike Potters book is very frank, and as I went on reading there were parts - even in the chapter quoted - that literally made me feel I had read enough - his graphic depiction of what is happening to our children, as well as to ourselves, made me want to vomit.   WHY?    Well just because to be confronted by such truth is like waking up to the reality that we are all living in a wormy and polluted world, where everyone is open to contamination,  until we all become as worms altogether, alive in slime and muck.         I don't want that for myself.     I certainly don't want that for my grand-children!   Yet much of what I would designate 'porn' is taken for granted as today's reading material - especially by our sons and daughters.    Ian Flemmings books for example are so 'graphic' that their content clings to one long after having read the print.    To NOT be made to feel 'unclean' can only mean that our moral conscience is already dead.

Michael Potter's book encourages those of us who are concerned to SPEAK UP, and make ourselves HEARD.    I think this is brilliant.
We who have VOICES should SPEAK UP  - and not only about Pornography!      We need to find ways and means of making ourselves heard here in Kenya, and all over the world.     We need to lobby our Governments to take notice of what is endangering our society, our nationality and our humanity.      In England, when I was growing up, we had a lady named Mary Whitehouse, who rose up to protest about the diminishing moral standard of the Nation. She energized an existing organization to become the Watchdog of the Nation, and herself a household name.    ANY book magazine, film, video, or Internet program she vetted and inspected, and then worked hard to have what she considered indecent or obscene removed from the Market.    Of course she did not do this single handed; she had a huge team of helpers with her.    She did not end up controlling the Net, or TV, or even the rest of the Media - but she did seriously deter all of them from destroying US for at least three decades.    She was not a man pleaser in her opinions; she did it for God, and God alone. -  and NOW?     Well now she has gone. Things have changed!

Who is watching out here in Kenya?     I don't know.     I do not hear anything to suggest that there is any one Crying out.    If Moral Re-armament is HERE, it is silent as the grave.     Well even if nothing is accomplished we are all responsible to do what we can to uphold the Likeness of God in our Society, Race, and Kind.   Who knows the tides might be turned.
